What New Patients at Brameast Family Health Organization Should Know
Routine Care Appointments
Brameast Family Health Organization is often asked many questions by new patients about what they can expect from our physicians and acute care health clinic in Brampton. Here’s what you should know about booking appointments with Brameast Family Health Organization:
-
Routine care appointments must always be booked with your doctor.
-
An appointment will be offered with an alternate doctor if your own doctor is not available.
-
An acute care clinic service (offered ONLY to Brameast patients) is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The acute care clinic doctor changes daily (the name of the doctor on the acute care clinic is never disclosed over the phone). For longstanding or complex problems, we always recommend that you book an appointment with your own doctor.
-
Regular appointments are 10 minutes. Physicals, special procedures and counselling appointments usually require more time.
-
Patients who do not provide adequate notice of cancellation (24 hours) will be billed for “Missed Appointments.” Charges for missed appointments must be paid in full before another appointment will be booked for you.
-
Please provide the receptionist with enough information to make an appropriate booking; this includes your reason to see the doctor. Please visit our Patient Tips & Tricks section for more tips on booking appointments.

Visit Our Daily Acute Care Clinic
Every effort will be made to have a physician see any urgent problem as soon as possible the same day thanks to our acute care clinic health clinic in Brampton. Patients with urgent or acute problems who need to be seen on the same day should call to book an appointment with an available doctor before trying the daily acute care clinic, which is open from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday (summer hours will vary) and between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM on weekends and statutory holidays. We are open every day except for Christmas/New Year and Good Friday. A registered nurse is available for advice through the Telephone Health Advisory Service at 1-866-553-7205.
How Our Prescription Renewals Work
Prescriptions are renewed as a courtesy service to our patients. This is a non-insured OHIP service. Your doctor will prescribe enough medication until you need to be seen/assessed again. Please make an appointment in ample time to ensure that you do not run out of medication. Prescriptions are not routinely renewed by telephone. We have a 7-day renewal policy in effect. If your refill request is urgent a $15 fee will be charged. If this fee is not paid, then future fax prescription requests will be refused. If you need a renewal, please call your pharmacy and ask them to fax a renewal request to us at 905-792-2901.
